Yoda Pumpkin Carving by hawkke Yoda Pumpkin Carving by hawkke
Description got borked when v5 took over, so here's a new one.

This is a pumpkin carving from a few years back. I meant to do more this past Halloween, but I didn't buy pumpkins in time, and all the good ones were taken =( Maybe this year I'll get a couple early and churn out some sweet carvings. Maybe.

Anyway, I hope you Star Wars nerds (like me) enjoy this one. And if you aren't a Star Wars nerd...although I fail to see how that's even possible...I hope you like it anyway.

This totally makes me happy. Every October I force my friends into coming over to my house around Halloween to carve pumpkins with me. They're usually reluctant, but they're good friends so they come anyway and it's AWESOME. I reward them with candy and scary movies.

It's a good little tradition even if it requires bribes :pumpkin:

Sounds like good times :D You started a great tradition! Be sure to take some pictures of your carvings this year so I can see them.

I'm actually trying to pick out my pattern(s) for this upcoming Halloween. I'm never quite sure what I want to do...Usually I just do something for the kids (well, they're not my kids, but ya know what I mean). Except for Yoda. That one was all for me :giggle:

far from it my friend.. i have to fight the urge to use wookiee impressions in polite companym although it is the quickest way of getting rid of people when you start hooting and growling at them

No, no no. Yoda is so strong in the force, he can use it to disguise himself as a pumpkin to hide from young Siths such as yourself :P

I did my first intricate pumpkin carving last halloween. I think I'll be doing it from now on. It's hard, but so fun to see the final result. &Nice job on this.

The trick is making smaller cuts until they build outward enough to form a shape. A skinny blade helps a lot, too ;) Thanks!

Any word on your entry in the county fair?

That's just trippy! You did a really good job on his facial features. It takes a lot of skill to make things like that show up on a pumpkin carving. ^^

Groovy! It's not as difficult as it seems - just follow your pattern as best you can. It's kind of a bitch, because you end up with pumpkin guts all over your arms, and they take forever to carve...but I think they're worth it :D

Thanks!

Ew... pumpkin guts!!! :O_o:

I've never carved a full sized big pumpkin before. I've only ever done the small ones. I've seen a guy (in my art class, go figure) carve a wonderful horse's head into his, and it was so unique because of the way he carved into it. Basically he carved several depths into the skin to create texture, and it ended up looking almost like an inverse vector! Very cool.
